Mosul's security director said Saturday military forces thwart displaced civilians from returning home in Mosul's left bank, The Baghdad Post reported.

In statements to NRT channel, Zuhair al-Araji added that those displaced face hard living circumstances.

"Security forces have not withdrawn yet, the people are not allowed to return home," al-Araji said.

He stressed on the need of societal cooperation to reconstruct Iraqi areas recently liberated from ISIS terror group.

The Iraqi army, backed by US-led international coalition and Iran-allied IMIS militias, launched in October 2016 an offensive to oust ISIS terrorists from Mosul.

On July 10th, 2017, PM Haider al-Abadi declared the full liberation of Mosul.
