Iraqi police forces seized expired medications depot at a house in Dora neighborhood in southern Baghdad, spokesman for Iraqi Ministry of Interior Saad Maan said in a statement Friday.
He added that the police arrested the owner of the house.
On Feb. 22,
officials said they confiscated 23 non refrigerated containers carrying spoiled
medications into Iraq under fictitious names.
Last March, Iraq's parliament has investigated the corruption and fraud at border crossings that have led to an influx of contaminated food supplies and expired medications into Iraq.
The toll of corruption on Iraqi citizens' health is so high that many die frequently and others have been poisoned by these medications.
