Sadrists call for protests against corruption on Friday

Sadrist Movement's committee overseeing popular demonstrations has called to wage a peaceful protest on Friday.

In a statement, the committee urged its followers to protest against corruption as well as not protecting fundamental freedoms.

Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist Movement, has earlier called for a change in Iraq’s electoral law, which he says it favors the current dominant parties and prevents smaller ones from winning seats in the parliament.

The Movement has been staging demonstrations on Fridays to denounce corruption and call for reform.
