Chief of Staff (CoS) of Saudi Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Abdul Rahman bin Saleh and CoS of Iraqi Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Othman al-Ghanimi discussed Friday coordination in intelligence efforts and security issues including their shared borders.
The two military leaders also discussed issues such as fighting armed groups, exchanging intelligence and securing Iraqi pilgrims who use the highway that connect Saudi Arabia and Iraq to travel to Mecca.
Bin Saleh arrived in Iraq on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman met with Iraqi Interior Minister Qasim al-Araji and his delegation visiting Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia is unuprecedently ready to support Iraq and entrench its political decision, a prominent official in Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's office revealed on Thursday.
In press statements to al-Arab newspaper, published in London, the official said that this summer will see intensive visits between Iraqi officials and their counterparts in many Arab countries, with Saudi Arabia topping the list.
During the forthcoming visits, Iraqi and Saudi sides will address security and economic issues, the official added.
