Salahuddin gov. sentenced to two-year imprisonment in corruption cases

The Criminal Court of Integrity has sentenced Ahmed Abdullah al-Jabouri,  Salahuddin's governor, to two-year imprisonment in two cases that had been filed against him, Commission of Integrity revealed on Friday.  

In  a statement, the commission said that  the Criminal Court of Integrity has sentenced Salahuddin's governor to one year imprisonment for being responsible for financial irregularities related to spending the governorate's budget on his private projects.  

The same court has sentenced al-Jabouri to one year in prison in another case for sending letters to Tikrit municipality in which he demands  transfer of land ownership to al-Soor al-Qadeem, a real estate company, free of charge, the statement read. 

It added that the transfer would have had happened except for the Commission of Integrity's interference.   

Commission of Integrity has conducted investigation into these two cases,  and referred them to competent courts to issue rulings, which are subject to appeal in accordance with the law.  

On Wednesday, governor of Salahuddined was arrest over corruption and negligence charges.
