Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi described Kurdistan independence referendum on Tuesday as unconstitutional.
This announcement was made during Abadi's weekly press conference.
Abadi asserted that Kurdistan is a part of Iraq. He further added that it is in the interest of Kurdistan's people to stay as part of Iraq.
Earlier, Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani met with Kurdistan political figures and parties and agreed to hold an independence referendum on 25th of September.
Abadi also said that the Iraqi society is in dire need for reconciliation to foil terrorism in the war-torn country. He added that the government is currently giving priority to bring back stability to Iraq and enable displaced civilians to return to their homes.
He also asserted that his government is working on to bring reinstall judicial system in the liberated areas.
