Iraqi Defense Minister Erfan Mahmoud al-Hiyali has honored Lieutenant-General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, commander of "We Are Coming, Nineveh" Operations, Ministry of Defense statement revealed on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the Iraqi defense minister has awarded Yarallah an honor shield in appreciation for the role he played in commanding the operations to liberate Mosul form ISIS terrorists.
On Sunday, it was reported that the fourth stage of "We Are Coming, Nineveh" operations will be launched soon to liberate Tal Afar city and other districts in the governorate from ISIS' grip.
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared last week the full liberation of Mosul.
Months of grinding urban warfare have displaced 900,000 people, about half the city's pre-war population, and killed thousands, according to aid organizations.
The United Nations predicts it will cost more than $1 billion to repair basic infrastructure in Mosul.
