Who opposes independence referendum has no place in Kurdistan – MP

Kurdistan Region to hold referendum on Sep. 25
Those who oppose holding Kurdistan Region's referendum on independence have to leave the region, Arafat Karam, head of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)'s parliamentary bloc, said on Wednesday.

In a Twitter post, Karam noted that Kurdistan will not embrace enemies.

Secession from Iraq is not because of hatred towards the country but hatred of the mentality that has pushed it into this abyss, he stated.

He added that the independence referendum will be held to get rid of this mentality.

In a previous tweet, Karam said that there is a difference between those who say "no" to the referendum and those who fight it.

The first group of people has a weak national affiliation while the other has lost it, he added.

Kurdistan Regional Government announced on June 7 that it would vote September 25 on whether to split from Iraq and form an independent nation.
