Mullah regime arrests Sunni Mufti in Iranian Kurdistan

Kak Hassan Amini
Iranian authorities arrested on Sunday the Sunni Mufti in the Iranian Kurdistan Sheikh Kak Hassan Amini, according to local press sources.

The  sources in Iranian Kurdistan as say that the arrest of the Sunni Mufti came after the security authorities raided his house Saturday night.

The sources said that the security authorities moved Amini to a clerical court in Hamadan city where he will undergo an investigation.

The clerical court will try Amini on Wednesday for "spreading propaganda against the regime, arousing public opinion and sowing the seeds of sedition between Sunnis and Shiites", the sources noted.

On March 23, Iranian authorities prevented the Sunni Mufti from participating in Sunni clerics' graduation party that was held in Hamadan, a predominantly Sunni city located in northeastern Iran.

Earlier, Amini criticized Shiite Maraji (Shiite religious authority) in Iran in October 2016, stressing that Sunnis are denied government posts.

He added that the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani cannot solve the problems of ethnic and religious minorities.

Sunnis in Iran have 20 of 290 seats in parliament. According to human rights organizations, ethnic minorities in Tehran suffer from persecution and harassment by regime and its security apparatuses.
