Iraq's High Commission for Human Rights has formed a crisis cell to follow up on the latest developments of the current protests in southern provinces, well-informed sources said Sunday.
The protests that hit various Iraqi provinces prompted the Iraqi security authorities to impose curfew in Basra, Najaf and Karbala provinces.
The wide-spread protests left three killed and 65 injured, medical and security sources said.
The mass demonstrations and sit-ins protest shortage of jobs, electricity, water and basic services.
Some demonstrators broke into and attacked several local government headquarters in these provinces during the current period.
