Rapid Response Force (RRF) has carried out a security operation to clear the vicinity of Tuz Khurmatu city in Salahuddin Government in coordination with the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga, Thamer al-Husseini, commander of RRF, revealed Monday.
In a press conference, al-Husseini said the forces were deployed and began to implement a plan to preserve security in Tuz Khurmatu.
Separatists in areas beyond mountains target central Tuz Khurmatu with mortar shells. The forces have been deployed in vital areas in the city to prevent the separatists from shelling it, he noted.
The forces also have confiscated large amounts of narcotics.
Tuz Khurmatu, home to Kurds, Turkmen, and Arabs, came under attacks from the Iraqi forces and the Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) in October when the Peshmerga pulled out of the disputed areas.
Kurds in the city were targeted with violent attacks, arson, and looting.
