US National Security Adviser H. R. McMaster says Iran lies behind sedition in the Middle East, calling the international community to hold it accountable for its crimes.
This comes as sweeping protests are hitting all over Iran.
The protesters are calling for removing the clerical rule, stopping supporting terrorism and reforming the country's economic system.
At least 22 protesters have been killed while hundreds others were injured, mostly seriously.
US President Donald Trump said his country would
throw its support for Iranian protesters at an “appropriate
time" as anti-government protests
erupted last week against Tehran.
Trump wrote on Twitter, “Such respect for the people of Iran as they try to take back their corrupt government. You will see great support from the United States at the appropriate time!”.
