Secretary general of National Iraqi Conference (NIC) Aras Habib called on political parties on Tuesday to accelerate efforts aimed to render bills of budget and election law approved in the foreseeable future.
He also warned that passing the constitutional deadlines may engender more problems.
In a statement, he indicated that the ongoing debate on whether to hold the elections have turned out to be a bone of contention among political forces.
"It is insufficient to assert that elections will be held as scheduled. But there should be accelerated efforts to issue election law," the MP noted.
"What can the Electoral Commission do without enforcing these measures?," he wondered.
Iraq plans to hold the election on May 15th, 2018.
