Kurdistan Region security council has warned against exploiting protests in Sulaymaniyah Governorate to carry out political agendas, the Baghdad Post reported Wednesday.
In a statement, the council said it fears the Kurdish people's "legitimate demands are exploited to carry out schemes cooked by other sides".
This comes at a time when the protests in Sulaymaniyah entered its third day in a row.
The violent protests, that experts say are fuelled by Iran, have killed and wounded dozens.
Since the Sept. 25th independence referendum that won an overwhelming YES for an independent state, Kurdistan has witnessed escalating violence.
