US President Donald Trump responded to the ballistic missile attack that targeted Saudi Arabia, and blamed Iran on carrying out such terrorist act, ABC News reported on Sunday.
"A shot was just taken by Iran, in my opinion, at Saudi Arabia. And our system knocked it down," Trump said, referring to the Patriot missile batteries Saudi Arabia has purchased from the US.
Iranian state media and officials did not immediately respond to Trump's remarks.
on Saturday evening, the Iranian-backed Houthi militia fired a ballistic missile targeting Riyadh. The missile was intercepted by Saudi air defenses northeast of Riyadh near King Khalid International Airport and was destroyed without any collateral damage.
In retaliation Arab coalition fighters launched a series of air strikes targeting the Houthi militia and forces loyal to ousted Ali Abdullah Saleh camps in southern Sanaa.
Sources confirmed that one of the raids targeted the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense under the control of the Houthi militias in central Sanaa.
