The Anbar provincial council on Tuesday nominated Mohammed al-Halbusi as the new governor.
In a press statement, Hameed Ahmed al-Hashim, a member of Anbar provincial council, announced 22 members of the Council had voted for Mohammed Halbusi.
Earlier on Monday, Hashimi announced that Court of Administrative Justice ratified the decision to dismiss Anbar former governor Suhaib al-Rawi.
Anbar's governor was removed over financial and administrative corruption charges, he added.
In July, Anbar Provincial Council voted overwhelmingly to dismiss al-Rawi.
