The Syrian opposition urged the United Nations Security Council to investigate a chemical bombardment over Idlib.

Earlier on Tuesday, a chemical gas shelling targeted northwestern Syria killed at least 35 civilians, among them were nine children who suffocated to death, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The jets targeted Khan Shaikhoun city in Idlib province with chemical gases, head of the Observatory Rami abd al-Rahman said.

It is still unknown if the bombardment was executed by the Syrian Regime or Russian jets, al-Rahman added.
