Sadr challenges death threats, meets supporters in Najaf

Muqtada al-Sadr leader of the Sadrist Movement's appeared on Monday in the streets of Najaf city where he met his supporters who agreed with him on denouncing corruption and the militias.

On Saturday, , Jaafar Al-Mosawi, the Sadrist spokesman asserted that local and foreign entities had threatened to kill the Sadrist Movement leader himself.

Earlier, Sadr had called for the dismantling of the Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) after the liberation of Mosul.

Sadr asserted that Saraya al-Salam (affiliated with Sadrist Movement) would be dismantled, noting that IMIS will in all likelihood cause Iraq to fall into the grip of militias.

Since Feb. 19, the Iraqi army has launched an offensive to liberate Mosul from ISIS terrorist group.
