MP: Iraqi govt. didn't provide safe corridors for Mosul's displaced

Raad Aldhlki
Iraqi government headed by Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi deliberately didn't provide safe corridors for displaced civilians fleeing Mosul's western bank, Iraqi lawmaker said on Monday.

Member of Iraqi parliamentary committee for immigration Raad Aldhlki called on Iraqi government to open safe corridors for displaced civilians fleeing the right bank of Mosul.

At least 2,500 civilians fled Mosul, most of them are children and women, he added.

Big wave of displaced civilians will come in the aftermath of the joint military operations in the western and southern neighborhoods of the city.

On February 19, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the beginning of the offensive, describing it as “a new dawn” and calling on his troops “to move bravely forward to liberate what is left of the city” from ISIS terrorist group.
