Algerian journalist shot by ISIS fully recovered, to resume duty in Mosul

Algerian journalist Samira Mouaki

Algerian journalist Samira Mouaki was discharged from a hospital in Baghdad and insisted on resuming her journalistic mission in covering up the ongoing battles to retake Mosul from ISIS terrorist group, according to the Iraqi Health Ministry.

Moataz al-Shemari, Director of Media Department at Baghdad Medical City Teaching Hospital Complex, said Muwafi insisted on going back to coverage of battles in Mosul after she has been fully recovered from her coma.

The Algerian journalist suffered a coma after being shot by an ISIS sniper near Tal Afar, western Mosul and the Iraqi government said it has brought the journalist's family from Algeria to Iraq to be with her.

Samira Mouaki, a journalist with Algeria's Echourouk TV, was seriously injured after being shot in the head in early February by an ISIS sniper while covering clashes between the ISIS militants and Hashd al-Shaabi forces west of Mosul, according to Algerian media.
