Senior IRGC commander killed in Syria

Mehdi Namaie, senior commander in Imam Ali Battalions

A senior commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was killed during the ongoing clashes in Syria, Iranian media outlets reported on Monday.

Mehdi Namaie, senior commander in Imam Ali Battalions (part of of IMIS), affiliated to IRGC, was killed in Hama city.

Namaie's body is expected to be moved from Syria to Iran this night.

Iran is considered one of the most crucial countries supporting Syrian regime led by president Bashar al Assad in which Tehran provides the Syrian regime with funds, weapons and sectarian militias to help Assad in defeating the rebels.
