Saudi Arabia's King Salman said Wednesday that oil giant Aramco's planned IPO will attract investment and create thousands of jobs, in his first comments on the blockbuster stock market listing.
The King also urged Iran to abandon an expansionist ideology that has “harmed” its own people, following violent street protests in the country.
“We hope the Iranian regime chooses the side of wisdom and realizes there is no way to overcome the international position that rejects its practices, without abandoning its expansionist and destructive thinking that has harmed its own people,” he told the consultative Shura Council, according to the foreign ministry.
“The kingdom does not seek war because its hand, which has always been extended to peace, is too high to harm anyone, but it stands ready to defend its people firmly against any aggression,” King Salman added.
King Salman also said, “The Iranian regime should realize that it has serious choices and that each option has consequences it will solely bear, and that the Kingdom has suffered from the policies and practices of the Iranian regime and its agents”.
