US Secretary of defense Mark Esper on Saturday announced that President Donald Trump approved to send additional US troops in the Middle East in the wake of the alleged Iranian attack against Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities.
Esper added that the US doesn’t want to engage into wan against Iran, but it has a number of military measures.
Esper confirmed also that all indications were that Iran was responsible for the attacks despite Tehran’s denial, adding that the move was a first measure.
He described the dispatching of US troops to the Middle East region as a first step to respond to the Iranian aggression against Saudi Arabia.
For his part, Pentagon’s president pointed out that the US is concentrating its efforts to help Saudi Arabia to enhance its defensive structure against any threats.
