Iraqi FM urges int'l community to set program against extremism

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim has urged the international community to set a program to counter extremism, pointing out that humanity is the common aspect between communities.

Hakim’s remarks came during the Ministerial Conference on the Promotion of Religious Freedom held in Washington.

Hakim further added that coexistence between religions in Iraq is a culture prevalent among Iraqis that produced an environment of creativity in many fields, including literature, art and scientific research.

“Iraq has suffered from the worst attack known to human history, represented in the crimes and human rights violations by the terrorist ISIS that practiced repression against different religions, sects and nationalities,” Hakim added.
