Russian Ambassador
Several Russian media outlets confirmed on Monday the killing of the Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, after being shot by a gunman in Ankara.

RIA Novosti quoted a source as saying that Karlov was gunned down.

The gun attack took place while the Russian diplomat was attending an art gallery in the Turkish capital, Ankara, CNN Türk said.

Also, three other persons were wounded in the offensive.

Turkey's state-owned Anadolu Agency said the attacker was killed by the security forces after a gun fight.

The attacker shouted " in revenge for Aleppo" after he shot down the ambassador, Turkey's state-owned Anadolu Agency reported.

A shoot-out was heard while the Turkish security forces were hunting the attacker, Sky News quoted sources as saying.

Turkish interior minister has inspected the scene.

Following the offensive, the Russian Foreign Ministry asserted that Karlov was seriously injured, saying it is contacting the Turkish authorities to find out the latest developments.
