The chairman of the Saudi Shura Council, Abdullah bin
Mohammed Al-Sheikh, praised the relations between Baghdad and Riyadh, stressing
that they are witnessing remarkable progress and brotherly ties with clear and
sincere seriousness to achieve further development.
Al-Sheikh said in a speech during the start of the Baghdad Summit of the parliaments of the neighboring countries of Iraq that "the Saudi-Iraqi relations have witnessed remarkable progress. We are meeting today in Baghdad after a visit by Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi. And memorandums of understanding, will achieve joint cooperation between the two countries. "
"The coordination council between Iraq and Saudi Arabia will work towards sustainable development," he said, stressing "the importance of international efforts to eradicate terrorism, enact further legislation, to root out terrorism, export terrorist ideology and support terrorist organizations."
The President of the Shura Council, Saudi Arabia, expressed "his thanks and appreciation to the Presidents of the Republic and the Iraqi ministers and parliament, for their good reception and hospitality."
He called for Arab-regional solidarity to eradicate terrorism and its manifestations supported by legislation, stressing the importance of international efforts to eradicate terrorism, enacting more legislation, drying up the sources of terrorism, exporting terrorist ideology and supporting terrorist organizations.
"We are meeting today in Baghdad after a visit by Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi, where the visit witnessed several meetings and the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding, which will achieve joint cooperation between the two countries," he said.
He pointed out that "the Coordination Council between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, will work to achieve sustainable development."
