German Parliamentary State Secretary Peter Tauber affirmed his country's keenness to support Iraq in the realms of security and reconstruction, inviting Iraqi Parliament Speaker to visit Germany.
Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halboosi received Tauber and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday, where they discussed ways to develop joint cooperation between the two countries, a statement issued by Halboosi's office said.
Halboosi also called on Germany to boost its investments in Iraq, the statement added.
Halboosi affirmed the keenness of the Iraqi government and parliament to cooperate with the international community in areas of common interest, especially reconstruction and counter-terrorism efforts. He also praised the German role in the military and humanitarian fields.
Iraq fought a war on behalf of the world through which blood and sacrifices were made to liberate humanity from this extremist organization, he said, praising international support for Iraq in this regard.
Halboosi called on Germany to contribute to reconstructing the liberated Iraqi cities, as well as areas with that suffer lack of services, thus contributing to restoring stability to Iraq, the statement added.
