MP says state draft budget will not suffice gov't program

MP Bahaa al-Nouri has criticized the state draft budget, saying it does not fulfill demands of the current phase or conform to the government’s program.

In remarks, Nouri said, “the draft law ignored the population ratios as well as oil-producing provinces, which suffer a shortage in the services rendered.”

The bill, according to Nouri “did not consider unemployment levels or employees rights and levels, which was recently addressed at the parliament.”

Regarding the salaries, Nouri said “the budget was made depending on the oil price. Some are trying to increase it, but we are still in talks.”

Nouri ruled out Kurdistan to get a rate higher than that state in the draft law, due to a decline in oil price down to less than what the law stipulated.

Last month, Iraq's parliament reportedly finished the first reading of the draft of the budget for the fiscal year 2019.

The revenues of the 2019 budget is estimated at about 150.6 trillion Iraqi dinars according to the estimated revenues from the export of crude oil on the basis of the rate of $56 per barrel, and an export rate of 3,880,000 barrels per day.
