Iraq, Turkey mull opening border crossing to allow merchandise into gulf

Iraq’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ali al-Hakim, discussed on Friday with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi the general regional issues.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister has discussed with his Turkish counterpart several issues including opening of a new border crossing to allow the merchandise into the gulf.

In a tweet on Sunday, Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim said, “the joint meeting with Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu was important. We discussed the community issues, the visa, trade exchange and the water.”

Hakim also indicated discussing opening new border crossing to allow the merchandise into the gulf, opening consulates to boost terrorism between the two countries, the war against terrorism and ending the conflict in Syria.

Hakim met with Cavusoglu on Thursday in Ankara to discuss several issues of mutual interests. The Iraqi President Barham Salih arrived earlier on the same day in the Turkish capital, where he met with his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
