Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi
Parliament Bashir al-Haddad announced the federal government's approval to
increase the share of the Kurdistan region to 14 percent in the 2019 financial budget.
The federal government agreed to increase the share of the Kurdistan region to 14 percent from 12.6 percent, Haddad said, adding that the step came amid intensified efforts of all Kurdish blocs in Baghdad to resolve the issue.
In an interview with The Baghdad Post, a source pointed out that a committee was specially formed to settle the 2019 budget share issue with Erbil.
However, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Kurdistan region is still not convinced with this percentage, as it seeks to return to the 17 percent budget share, especially after Baghdad and Erbil agreed to resume oil exports from Kirkuk.
