Haddad stresses need to document crimes against innocents

Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Bashir al-Haddad affirmed during his meeting with officials from the Iraq High Commission for Human Rights on Monday the need to document violations and crimes committed against innocent people.

Haddad met with the head and members of the IHCHR amid the celebration of the commission of the 70th anniversary of the declaration.

Haddad discussed means of activating mechanisms of cooperation and coordination with the legislative institution to enhance the role of the IHCHR in carrying out its tasks and documenting violations and crimes against innocent people.

He also stressed the need to provide support and possibilities to document the violations and crimes that affected innocent civilians during the time of the former regime and the period when ISIS had occupied a number of provinces and regions.

He also affirmed the importance of opening the offices of the commission in the Kurdistan Region and the provinces to gather the necessary information and statistics to complete the reports and submit them to the United Nations in a formal manner.
