NASA's revolutionary Kepler telescope concludes mission

NASA’s revolutionary Kepler space telescope has ended its mission in space, after it had discovered hundreds of confirmed planets, as it ran out of fuel.

Paul Hertz, director of NASA’s astrophysics division in Washington, D.C. said that Kepler launched a new era of exploration after it had discovered over 2,600 confirmed planets.

Final commands to swith off the transmitter will be issued by NASA officials next week, the officials said.

“We collected every last bit of science data, and in the end, we didn’t have a drop of fuel left over for anything else,” said Charlie Sobeck, the Kepler mission’s former project manager.
