Two French organizations have called for the opening of shelters
in France, Spain, Italy and Malta to receive asylum seekers arriving across the Mediterranean, after a request to dock
several ships carrying migrants has been rejected.
"The right of asylum in the European Union is in danger," Terra Nuova and the Insititut Montaigne confirmed in a joint report, stressing the need to "quickly reformulate the unjust and ineffective" system.
Spain, France, Italy and Malta will be asked to each open at least one center.
The report states that each country should allocate resources for the study of asylum applications "within less than a month", with the European Union funding the implementation of this measure.
