Revealed: Abdul Mahdi, Abadi agree on hunting down corrupt officials

Outgoing Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and the newly-appointed PM Adel Abdul Mahdi had agreed to make a plan to uproot corruption, political sources revealed on sunday.

The sources affirmed that Abdul Mahdi, in cooperation with Abadi, is moving to ban senior officials accused of corruption from traveling abroad before he takes office.

The sources also revealed Abdul Mahdi's intention to "form a competent court to hunt down corrupt officials, in coordination with the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq and the management of efficient judges to eliminate corruption."

Iraq has been suffering from corrupt officials in the past period in which billions of dollars of public funds were embezzled.
