Lebanese writer hails US sanctions against institutions backing Hezbollah

Lebanese writer Jerry Maher
Lebanese writer Jerry Maher hailed Saturday the US sanctions against Lebanese institutions for backing the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah, referring the reason to the policies of President Michel Aoun and the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement Gebran Bassil.

“Lebanon today is fully dominated by the control of Hezbollah due to the policies of Michel Aoun and Gebran Bassil, nothing left but imposing sanctions,” Maher said through his official Twitter account on Saturday.

Treasury Department declared Thursday sanctions against Lebanese businessman Mohamed al-Amin and seven companies he owns, over accusations of funding Hezbollah. In past May, Washington imposed new sanctions against the militias’ leader Hassan Nasrallah and his deputy Naim Qassem and other fighters in the militia.
