A mass grave including bodies of 54 people killed by ISIS militants were found in Iraq's Kurdistan, news outlets reported Saturday.

Chief of Taakhi precinct police, Colonel Fayez al-Hajjaji, told the press that police officers ran into a mass grave containing the bodies of as many as 54 people who were killed by ISIS militants during a 2014 battle with security forces to recapture Ouja and Tikrit, around 140km northwest of Baghdad.

Most of the corpses, both Iraqis and foreigners, were either shot or beheaded, according to Hajjaji.
