US calls on IAEA to investigate secret nuclear facility in Tehran

Netanyahu UN 2018
The US State Department has asked the IAEA to examine Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comments on Iran's secret nuclear arsenal.

"The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must fully exercise its powers to ensure that the international community has no nuclear material in Iran that has not been authorized," the State Department said in a statement.

Netanyahu announced that Iran is continuing its nuclear activities despite the nuclear 2015 agreement signed under former US President Barak Obama, noting that Iran has an atomic facility in Tehran.

In his speech before the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu said that he revealed for the first time that Iran has another secret facility in Tehran to store vast quantities of equipment and materials from Iran's clandestine nuclear program. He said Israel had received 1,000 documents and a video showing buildings in Tehran for developing nuclear weapons.
