Parliament's presidential board to name biggest bloc: Saairun

Saairun (Marching Towards Reform) Alliance official Ayman al-Shammari, said that the Parliament's presidential board will name its biggest bloc instead of the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq.

The Saairun official said that the court feels uncomfortable to name the biggest bloc, affirming that the Parliament's presidential board will name it through a sorting process.

Shammari slammed recent media reports concerning choosing candidates for the post of prime minister, denying that any person has been settled on to take the post.

Local media platforms earlier reported the names of 10 figures who is claimed to be the candidates for the position, including former Iraqi chancellor Laith Kubba, former Oil Minister Adel Abdul Mehdi, Basra Governor Asaad al-Eidani, and Abdul Wahab Al Saadi, a commander of the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service.

Moreover, Shammari said that all the names the media has circulated are not currently suitable to lead the next cabinet. He added that political negotiations taking place among blocs at the moment are complicated and that they have not settled on a certain person.

The Saairun official said that his coalition aims to meet the conditions of the religious reference by nominating a new and independent person who is aware of the responsibility, adding that the coalition will resort to the opposition in case the former fails to name a qualified person.
