Sadrist Movement leader, Moqtada al-Sadr said on Monday that Iraq is on verge of “civil war” due to the serious situation witnessed in the country.
Sadr added that political blocs must work together rather than burn ballot boxes or demanding holding new parliamentary elections.
He pointed out that “fingerprints” of Baath Party are still exist in Iraq, although the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime in 2003.
On Sunday, a Baghdad storage site housing ballot boxes from Iraq’s May parliamentary election has caught fire.
The ballot boxes are part of a manual recount of votes from the May election, mandated in a law passed by the Iraqi parliament on Wednesday.
