On Monday, Iran's
Chief of Staff, Major General Mohamed Bagheri launched a lot of menacing
rhetoric against US and Saudi Arabia. The threats echo a lot of hot air launched
earlier this week by Iranian generals including Hussein Salami, the
second-in-command of the Iranian army that also vowed to annihilate Israel.
According to analysts, the Iranian threats reflect the Islamic Republic's increasing fears from a deal sealed between the Trump Administration and Saudi Arabia under which the latter is due to receive highly-sophisticated weapons.
The deal signed during the latest landmark visit by Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman to Washington is seen by Iranian officials as a declaration of war, analysts confirm.
Speaking at the 6th Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), Bagheri claimed the US was spreading chaos in the world via dispatching its military personnel to various countries. He further accused the Trump Administration of destabilizing western Asia depending on ISIS militants.
He also defended the Iranian increasing presence in Iraq and Syria as "necessary to achieve regional peace". Iran has already deployed hundreds of Shia militias in the neighboring Arab countries to destabilize those countries.
The militias are supervised by Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Quds Force, an elite branch of the IRGC.
"Iran's presence in Iraq and Syria, as well as its allies, serves the peace in the region. The best example on this is Iran's efforts to fight terrorism in the region," he said.
He also boasted the power of Iran’s naval forces, adding that the Iranians are now operating in international waters including Indian ocean.
The same statements were echoed by Rear Admiral Sayyari who said “the world has now accepted Iranian naval forces’ status as an international force as the Iranians have proved themselves to the world.”
He said that there is no place in the world that is protected from destruction. He added that the unipolar world system has "established new facts", calling on the countries of the region to "accept the new facts".
Bagheri also claimed US seeks to pull out of the international deals referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA), the 2015 deal that Iran struck with the world's major powers. Washington always stresses that Tehran has repeatedly violated the accord.
Israel should be annihilated
On April 21, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) IRGC Deputy Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami gave a bellicose speech in Tehran, threatening to launch strikes against Israel.
Salami claimed that “hands are on the trigger and missiles are ready” to strike all Israel's northern and southern air bases, claiming Tel Aviv was living in the dragon’s mouth.
The threats came after Israeli media circulated a map of Iran-controlled air bases in Syria.
”Don’t trust your airbases. They’re within reach,” he said, adding that “wherever you are in the occupied land, you’ll be under fire from us, from east and west. You became arrogant. If there’s a war, the result will be your complete elimination,” Salami added.
