Saudi-led coalition accuses UN coordinator of supporting Houthis

Saudi-led coalition accuses UN coordinator of taking Houthis' side
Saudi-led Arab coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen is expressing regret over the statements made by the UN humanitarian coordinator in Yemen, Jamie McGoldrick, Al Arabiya reported on Friday.

In a statement by the coalition spokesman, Colonel Turki al-Malki, the coalition said that McGoldrick’s statements appeared biased towards Iran-backed Houthi terrorists, which was described as the "de facto authority", contrary to UN Security Council resolutions.

The spokesman said that the attempt to legitimize the militias in Yemen continues to mislead the international public opinion by repeating what is being stated in Houthi backed media and social media while ignoring the existence of a direct communication channel with the coalition forces to inquire about the information obtained while ignoring the crimes by the Houthi militias and violations against the Yemeni people.

"This statement creates a constant state of uncertainty about the information and data on which the UN relies on and undermines its credibility, which has been mentioned by the coalition forces in previous statements, most recently in the report of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict," al-Maliki said.

The official spokesman for the coalition deplores this biased stance, stressing the need for the UN to review the humanitarian mechanism and the efficiency of its staff working in Yemen.

Since March 2015, a Saudi-led military coalition has been fighting the Houthi terrorists in the Arab peninsula state of Yemen.
