Ammar Hakim discusses Erbil-Baghdad crisis with UN's envoy

National Alliance Chief Ammar al-Hakim discussed the Erbil-Baghdad crisis with the United Nation's Envoy to Iraq Jan Kubis on Friday.

The two sides also discussed the latest security and political developments in Iraq.

Hakim called for the unity of Iraq, using the constitution to solve any issue, stressing on finding solution for the current crisis that avoid using force.

He also called for the government to do its best efforts to provide safety and stability in Iraq, reiterating the importance of carrying out the national elections on its date, describing the electoral process as the most important part in democracy that will get Iraq out of its current crisis.

This comes as tensions are high between Baghdad-Erbil in the wake of the Kurdistan independence referendum and the incursion of the Iraqi forces and IMIS that followed afterwards against Kirkuk that led to the displacement of tens of thousands of Kurds and Sunni Muslims from the governorate.
