Putin to discuss Syria, ties during visit to Ankara Thursday
Developments in Syria and the possibility of deploying Turkish troops in the Syrian governorate of Idlib will be amongst the various topics of discussions during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Turkey Thursday, KUNA reported Wednesday.

The expected meeting between Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan will touch on efforts to fight "terrorist" groups in Syria and will also discuss a missiles-arms deal between the two nations, a transaction causing concerns over at NATO.

Putin's visit to Turkey will come a week ahead of Erdogan's official visit to Tehran, Iran.

The exchange of visits by officials from Russia, Turkey, and Iran is seen as part of the coordinative efforts to contain the situation in Idlib, Syria.

The three nations were witness to a deal last May to cease the use of arms in non-conflict zones in Syria to allow the distribution of relief aid.
