Clashes renewed between Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) and Nineveh Plain Protection Units (NPU) at al-Hamdaniya district in western Mosul, as shown in a video obtained by The Baghdad Post on Saturday.
Five terrorists from Badr militia– affiliated with IMIS– and two militants from NPU were injured during the clashes, according to a press source.
As a result, NPU forces were withdrawn from al-Majmoua'a al-Thaqafeya district, replaced with Iraqi Army's 16th division and Nineveh Swat forces, the source added.
On Friday, brawl between Nineveh Plain Protection Units (NPU) and Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) escalated to a gun fight at al-Majmoua'a al-Thaqafeya in the left bank of Mosul, a security source said on Friday.
The source asserted that several people were injured during the clash between the two groups.
Shops closed its doors while panic spread among civilians, as military forces arrived at the scene to disengage the clashing factions.
On Sunday, NPU accused Christian Babylon Brigades and other forces of IMIS of assaulting their headquarters and confiscating their weapons to free six of the brigades' militiamen who have been arrested for stealing artifacts.
This comes after clashes had erupted between the two sides earlier in al-Hamadaniya neighborhood in Nineveh Governorate.
