Intensive clashes erupted on Saturday between the Iraqi Forces and ISIS terrorists to retake two of main districts in Mosul's right bank, commander of Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service Lt. Gen. Abdel Ghani al-Assadi said.

In a statement, al-Assadi said "Battles are currently going on to retake al-Meghreb and al-Yarmouk districts of Mosul right bank".

The terrorist group tries to tighten its grip on the two districts but the troops will continue to completely liberate the city of Mosul, al-Assadi explained.

The operations are part of a massive offensive launched by Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi on February 19 to take control of the western side of the embattled city of Mosul which has been under the control of ISIS since June 2014.
