The US wants to "amplify the
voices of the Iranian people", America's ambassador to UN has said, as she
hailed the "bravery" of protesters in the country, Sky News reported
It comes after President Donald Trump also praised those taking part in demonstrations against Iran's "brutal and corrupt" regime.
At least 21 people have died as demonstrators clashed with security forces in cities and towns across the country.
Hundreds have been arrested over the last few days and a number of public buildings have been damaged or gutted by fire.
The US government also called on the Iran to stop blocking Instagram and messaging apps, which have been used to arrange protests and share images and video.
