Holding elections as scheduled next May 15th, 2018, could lead to a military coup, National Alliance member of parliament Raad al-Dahlaki said on Tuesday.
He added that this year will witness a notable security stability as Iraq is free of ISIS but on the political level there will be conflicts due to the lack of discussions among political parties and blocs.
Iraq needs to eliminate sectarianism to grow and develop the economy, he asserted.
Dahlaki warned that many military and police commanders might exploit the upcoming elections to gain high state positions and that is kind of coup.
He confirmed that the Alliance is working hard to postpone the elections till conditions improve.
