Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)'s Quds Force leader Qasem Soleimani led the negotiations that led to the fall of Kirkuk in the hands of the Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS), former MP and Shiite politician Izat al-Shabander said in a video obtained by The Baghdad Post on Thursday.
He added that this move was carried out by Soleimani only to preserve Mullah's regime interests in Iraq.
Shabander noted that the Iraqi Prime Minister haider al-Abadi didn't intervene in this crisis, asserting that he used this even to his own benefit.
This comes as Peshmerga forces were withdrawn from Kirkuk governorate after the Iraqi forces were deployed in the governorate, following negotiations with the Baghdad government and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
