MP Khalid al-Mafraji said on Monday that Iraqi Parliament voted to consider the district of Hawija as a blighted city, while Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi called for increasing the volunteers of the Tribal Mobilization in the district to 5,000.

The decision obliges the local government of Kirkuk to open all the crossings leading to Hawija and the villages of Daqouq, as well as to oblige the ministries of migration, trade and health to provide the urgent needs of the district and liberated areas, he added.

On October 7, the head of the Turkmen Front, Arshad Salhi Talib, called on Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to keep military units in Kirkuk after the liberation of Hawija province to prevent the return of "terrorism."

On October 5, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of the province of Hawija, stressing that only the border strip with Syria is not liberated yet.
