A police officer has been killed and others have been injured when a booby-trapped car exploded in northern Babil, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced Wednesday.
In a statement, Brigadier-General Saad Maan, spokesman of MoI, said that the security forces began to shoot at suspects boarding the car after attempting to pass Martyr Alaa checkpoint located at the entrance of al-Musayyib district in Babil Governorate.
It turned out that that four terrorist were in the car, carrying weapons and possessing explosive devices, he added.
A few weeks ago, eight soldiers were injured in a bomb blast that targeted a van they were riding in Alexandria neighborhood in Babil.
